Unwrapping ADHD's Gifts: A Strength-Based Approach to Thriving with ADHD

Key Points About Our Chat

  • Strength-Based Approach: Dr. Hallowell explains how ADHD is a gift to be unwrapped, not a disability to be treated

  • Supporting the “brakes” on a race car brain: The ADHD brain is like a Ferrari with bicycle brakes—fast, powerful, and creative, but it needs help slowing down and regulating. Supporting executive function and self-regulation is key to helping kids harness their speed without crashing.

  • Connection as Fuel: Dr. Hallowell highlights how connection helps the ADHD brain thrive and corrects the misconception about attention deficits.
